Rachel and Bryan were married on a gorgeous July day on the University of Washington campus. Rachel got ready in a classroom with huge windows along one wall.
As she put on her makeup and hung out with her friends, she was nervous and brimming with excitement:
We met up with Bryan, took some quick family photos, and then it was time for the ceremony.
It was held in the lush, beautiful Sylvan Theater, and the guests all gathered around the chuppa:
They had written their own vows, and listening to them learned more about who they are, and the lives they want to live together.
Rachel’s parents stood right behind her:
And Bryan’s parents stood right behind him:
After the ceremony they walked out of the Sylvan theater…
and spent a few minutes by themselves:
Then we took some portraits and I got to play with the tilt-shift lens. I love how dreamy these look:
And I discovered how much Bryan likes to pick up Rachel…there are a few more of these throughout the night:
And then it was time to head over to the reception.
It was held in the main atrium of Mary Gates Hall, which is two stories tall and has a balcony running around the second level. This meant there were lots of great angles to shoot from above the party, which was lots of fun during the hora.
The absolutely adorable niece of the bride:
After dinner there was an awesome slideshow–I love the guest reactions to the show:
Then it was time for toasts…
…and one toast included an impromptu group sing-along of “Moon River”!
By the time the toasts wrapped up, it was obvious that these two were a truly cherished couple–everyone wanted to tell some way that Brian or Rachel had touched their lives. And then it was time for the hora!
And yes, that’s Bryan picking up Rachel again, below, in the middle of the circle!
Both of them are so full of energy–their sense of fun is contagious–and by the end of the night it was Bryan who was getting picked up!
And just as I was heading out the door (during the song “Jungle Boogie”) I came across this guy and had to grab my camera, quick!
Many thanks to Jennifer Richard, my awesome second shooter. And thank you Bryan and Rachel, for such a great evening, and congratulations to you both!
