Although Alexa and Matt both now live in my home city of Washington, DC, they traveled back to Olympia where Alexa grew up, to get married. And there was a wonderful hometown feeling at the wedding—two of Alexa’s former teachers were a part of the day, one acted as officiant and another played the trumpet with his band. It was a strikingly beautiful day, and the venue, Albee’s Garden, was in full bloom.
We started off with some getting ready pictures…
Then it was time for the first look and some portraits. Albee’s has so many beautiful places for portraits—an orchard of pear and apple trees, big beds of dahlias—and we walked all over taking photos.
I totally loved the lining of Matt’s jacket…how cool is this?
We even took a few with Alexa and Matt’s adorable dog:
After portraits I had time to take a few detail photos of the beautiful tent that was set up:
And then it was time for the ceremony! Here’s Alexa waiting with her dad to walk down the aisle:
And then it was time for the party to begin!
Then it was time for dinner (made by the incomparable Herban Feast) and toasts:
One of the toasts inspired Matt to recount a hilarious tale, which I won’t elaborate on here except to say that it involved a towel, a sleeping college roommate, and “Jock Jams.”
Then it was time for dancing…
Thank you to my awesome second shooter Sacha Hrabar, and thank you to Alexa and Matt for having me document your fabulous wedding. It was so beautuful and I was so glad to be a part of it.
